Termination of KVDT2, govt willing to negotiate for win-win solution

KUALA LUMPUR,. The government is prepared to negotiate with Syarikat Dhaya Maju LTAT on the termination of the Klang Valley Double Track Phase 2 (KVDT2) project in finding a ‘win-win’ solution for both parties.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the cabinet, at a meeting last Friday, decided that the Transport Ministry would hold talks with the company, which had taken the matter to the court.

“Not only in this civil case, but also in other civil cases facing the government. The government’s stand is always open to negotiate for any solution for an amicable out-of-court settlement,” he told the Dewan Rakyat, today.

He was responding to a supplementary question from Anthony Loke Siew Fook (PH-Seremban), who wanted to know whether the government is prepared to negotiate with the company to avoid legal implications and delay in the KVDT2 project.

Admitting delay in the project implementation, Takiyuddin said the company hd obtained an interim injunction against the government, as well as seeking other legal redress.
